Bharat Bandh on 03 July 2008

I usually prefer avoiding controversial topics on my blog. But just because of the irony of system we have in our country I thought a post wouldn’t harm anyone.

Bharat Bandh, or for the convenience of foreign audience, India Shutdown (A literal translation) has been called by the VSP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) and BJP on 03 July 2008. I know it won’t make sense to a lot of people in the world when it comes to the concept of bandh or shut down. In the era of web journalism when people can voice their voices on Internet media we are still talking about Bharat Bandh.

I know I am not an authority on this or any political issue but I think I can have an opinion and according to me it’s ironical that we stop or at least hinder work through out the country. Is that a right way to protest or for that matter even retaliate.

The bandh has been called after Jammu & Kashmir government revoked land allotment to Amarnath Shrine Board. The VHP also demanded scrapping of subsidy on Haj pilgrimage.

I leave it for my readers to comment on this issue.

US blames India again-This time for Oil price rise!

digitallife news review 0 Comments

After the controversial statement by US president Bush on India and China being the reasons for rise of food prices, which created quite a rage, White House Deputy Spokesman Scott Stanzel attributed the rise in Oil prices to the increased demand by countries like India and China.

I am not sure if these statements are an effort to curb the problem of identity crisis that Mr Bush and his official are suffering from. Probably they are too worried about the declining value of dollar and are frustrated and make such comments. The good thing for US government would be to look at factors internally which might be causing the dollar crisis.
